Senior Programme Officer (Commonwealth Writers)

London based, with international travel

Become part of Commonwealth Writers, a small team which works with writers and cultural organisations across the regions of the Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Writers works with writers to develop and use their craft. We work responsively, considering the particular challenges faced by writers and other storytellers in the different regions of the Commonwealth and in partnership with cultural industries and civil society organisations.
We are looking for an individual at a senior level with a passion for developing writers across all genres in an international context. You will have experience in writer development, as well as project management and managing partnerships with individuals and organisations.
You will have an ability to initiate, establish and maintain key relationships with political and cultural sensitivity.  You will enjoy working in a small and dedicated team, be an excellent communicator and a team player and believe in the vision of Commonwealth Writers.
Knowledge and understanding of working in a developing country and of international development issues, trends and approaches would be an advantage.
A willingness for international travel on short-term field assignments is essential.

Interviews:  will take place between 29 and 31 July 2015

Salary & Key Benefits:
– In the region of £35,000pa to £37,000pa, depending on experience
– 15% of gross salary in a tax free gratuity payment (can be used for personal pension scheme and available to withdraw every 3 years)
– Holiday allowance of 30 days (plus 8 bank holidays and 4 privilege days)
