Angry villagers burn three armed robbers in Kogi

KARMA! Three armed robbers met their waterloo when they took over a road in Ofu Local government area of Kogi State robbing commuters and motorists.

An eyewitness said the robbers; numbering five took over the road, robbing commuters and motorists.

Unknown to the robbers, the villagers who were tired of their incessant attacks on the road leading to Idah Local Government Area from Lokoja rushed out in their hundreds and descended on them.

The villagers, who refused to be intimidated by the armed robbers, attacked and snatched their guns before crushing three of them to death with heavy stones, clubs and other dangerous weapons.

The bandits were identified to be foreigners from the neirgbouring ‎ African countries, witnesses said.

Two of the armed robbers escaped into the bush, while ‎the other three were burnt.

Criminal activities, including kidnapping have been on the increase in the area in recent times.

The Police Public Relation officer, Williams Aya, confirmed that the police found three dead bodies at the Orunu junction, but no one was at the scene with the bodies.

Aya said the police have commenced investigation into the matter.
