Turkish police have detained a female suspect after two
attackers opened fire outside the US consulate in Istanbul, Turkish
media said.
A local news agency said those involved in the attack
on the building included a man and a woman who fled when police returned
fire.
The motive for the attack remained unclear and a spokesman
for the US embassy in Ankara said: "We're still working to find out
what's going on."
The incident came after a suspected suicide
bomber in a vehicle packed with explosives attacked a police station in
the Istanbul district of Sultanbeyli.
At least 10 people were wounded including three police, the Anatolia news agency reported.
It is unclear if the two incidents are related.
Tensions remain high in Turkey due to Ankara's bombing campaign against Kurdish rebels.
