Check out the newly released list of the '50 most dangerous cities in the world' and you won't believe that an astonishing 21 of the cities are in Brazil.
Latin American cities features highly in the ranking, the list also include US cities of St Louis, Baltimore, Detroit and New Orleans, The only African country with cities on the list is South Africa, with Cape Town in 9th place, Durban 41st, Nelson Mandela Bay 42nd and Johannesburg 47th.
Drug trafficking, gang wars, political instability, corruption and poverty are to blame for the high homicide rates across the region, which has just 8 per cent of the world’s population, according to UN data.
