BIAFRA: We will make Nigeria Ungovernable - MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra on Thursday threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable if the Federal Government failed to conduct a referendum in the South-East.

MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups, including the Indigenous People of Biafra, are demanding a referendum in the region to enable the people decide, through voting, whether they wish to secede, or remain in Nigeria.

Shiites, rival Muslim youth clash in Jos

Members of Shiite group today clashed with a rival Muslim youths in Jos leaving one person dead.

The Shitte members were said to be protesting the continued  detention of their leader El-Zakzaky, his wife and some other members before the incident.

Media and Communications Officer of the Special Task Force, also known as ‘Operation Safe Haven’, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the incident and said one person was killed.

Shi'ite Sect calls out Governor El-Rufai

Islamic Movement in Nigeria, better known as the Shi’ite sect, has called out the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai as their enemy and anti-Shi’ite governor in a press release by the President of the groups media forum.

The sect in reaction to the Thursday night state broadcast by the governor on the recent clash between members of the sect and men of the Nigerian army stated categorically that, “It is clear that the governor is more like an extremist anti-Shi’ite governor and not a state governor.”

Amnesty International calls for impartial probe into Nigeria army and Shiite faceoff

Amnesty International today called for an impartial investigation into last weekend face-off between the Nigerian army and Shite islamic group in Zaria, Kaduna that left over 60 people dead.

Most of the people killed belonged to the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led by cleric Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakyzaky.

Rebel leader declares new republic in Central African Republic

A new autonomous state has been proclaimed in Central African republic by rebel leader, Commander Maouloud Moussa, according to the spokesman for the Muslim rebel leader Noureddine Adam, the new state in the northern part of CAR will be called the Republic of Logone.

The Central African Republic has been highly volatile since early 2013.

Mr. Adam said, a copy of the declaration, signed on Monday, was given to the UN office in Kaga-Bandoro. The transitional government denounced the declaration.

Russian warship fires warning shots at Turkish Vessel

Russian destroyer Smetlivy was unable to establish radio contact with the approaching Turkish Ship and when the vessel was 600 metres away, the destroyer fired with small arms and the Turkish vessel quickly changed course.

Deadly violence rocks Burundi

The situation in Burundi is gradually becoming worrisome as deadly attacks and explosions in the capital Bujumbura on Sunday night left at least four people dead.

The overnight attacks on Sunday in Bujumbura came despite a UN plea for both sides to end the violence and attend talks.

Attackers targeted a police post in the south of Bujumbura, killing one police officer and injuring another, a policeman, who witnessed the incident and did not wish to be named, said.

Following the recent violence in Burundi, Key western powers and the UN are discussing the possible deployment of international peace keepers to the troubled African country, if the crisis spiral into a full-scale ethnic conflict.

21 killed in Central African Republic attacks

Tragedy struck again in the capital of Central African Republic (CAR) on Saturday, Where at least 21 people were killed and about 100 other were wounded, when Muslims attacked a mainly Christian neighbourhood.
