A Saudi girl died after doctors amputated part of her hand which
suffered from a clot due to needle mishandling by a medical team
treating her in the Gulf Kingdom, newspapers report.
Sakina Ali Al Muhanna was admitted to hospital in the eastern province of Qateef with lung illness and doctors tried to give her an intravenous injection.
“After several abortive attempts to fix the needle, the child suffered from a clot in her hand,” 'Sabq' Arabic language daily said.

It said doctors failed to treat the clot and the child was admitted to the intensive care unit for nearly three weeks before she was sent for treatment in Egypt.
Doctors in Egypt decided to amputate part of her hand before sending her back home in Saudi Arabia, where she was admitted to hospital again after her condition deteriorated.
“Sakina died in hospital on Sunday night. Sources said health authorities are expected to suspend and prosecute the medical team which treated her.”
